Egg shaped ball action dominates events this weekend as the Six Nations and the Superbowl smash onto our screens. The rugby kicks off at 2pm on Saturday when either Ronan O'Gara or Andrea Masi will get a tournament underway that promises to be one of the closest and most unpredictable for years. Then billions of people all over the world will be helplessly lured in to a stop-start match which takes nearly four hours to complete. So prepare for some blood sweat and cauliflower ears as we satisfy all your oval ball punting needs.

So much has been written and spoken about Havant & Waterlooville's monumental performance at Anfield last Saturday, but could you honestly have had a better day than Mr. S from Chichester? "The south coast has not had the same buzz about it since the Titanic brushed its waters. My beloved Havant, struggling to death in the conny south, are going to Anfield to play arguably the most successful football team in the world. The coach leaves at 6.30am and the banter is diamond. I discuss whether the game is even touchable and decide to leave it well alone. That was until the Watford Gap when an alcoholic stronghold opened my mind and convinced me to sell the time of my team's first goal at 81 for £10. It's not often I get the opportunity to have a spread bet on a Hawks game anyway! Wow! Who would have truly believed what happened after eight minutes as the 6,000 Hampshirian glory hunters packed in the Anfield Road Stand witnessed Richard Pacquette heading us into sheer ecstasy! I hadn't even thought about the £730 profit until I logged into Bet on the Move later that night. Needless to say ale was taken!"

The other, more overshadowed upset of the week came down-under, in what was a truly thrilling last few days in the Australian Open. One punter firmly believed that Rodger Federer would reach his 11th consecutive Grand Slam final and backed this thought up by buying the Swiss' Win Index at 18.5 for £350 in the stunning semi-final against Novak Djokovic. Federer took the first break and served for the first set, but his Serbian opponent dug in to win the next four games in succession and break the world number one twice in the second to go 2-0 up. Federer, had not been down like this for three years and he had no answer to the Serbian's quality as he stormed into the final in a straight sets victory. This left our man nursing a rather painful £6,475 forehand smash to the wallet.

Six Nations Ireland were left in a state of shock after their dismal showing at the World Cup and punters don't see any light at the end of the tunnel just yet. Eddie O'Sullivan's men are down a point to 23-26 on our Six Nations Outright Index

African Cup of Nations The 2006 finalists, the Ivory Coast, have looked in fine fettle on Ghanainan soil. They qualified top of their group after beating Nigeria, Benin and Mali. Will the Elephants continue to trample the opposition? They are up six to 35-38 on our African Nations Outright Index.

FA Cup Chelsea remain on course to repeat last year's domestic Cup double success and drawing Huddersfield at home in the 5th Round won't have the Blues shaking in their boots. They are up a massive 18 points to 63-66 on our FA Cup Outright Index.

Politics Former New York mayor, Rudy Giuliani, who withdrew from the White House race earlier this week following a poor showing in Florida has given his backing to fellow Republican, John McCain. The Vietnam P.O.W. is up 6 points to 13.5-15 on our US Presidential Election Index.
