You can't say that the opening weekend of the Six Nations was a classic; in fact it was a pretty standard affair without much to get excited about. Each favourite won comfortably, but not by too much or too little and the games passed without any major incidents. But, have a spread bet on any of the action and the weekend just might go down as a classic. One punter placed a bet that kept him excited for the whole game, buying flanker James Haskell's Try Minutes at six for £30 in the England Wales clash. With a maximum downside of £180 and an almost infinite upside, a bet on Try Minutes is a bet like no other. Wales started the brighter but a moment of madness from Alun Wyn Jones - binned for tripping - inadvertently created untold happiness for our man, as on 40 minutes Haskell scrambled the ball out of a maul and charged over from a metre out. England seemed to enjoy playing against 14 men as they went over again shortly after half time. Already sitting on a big profit, the client must've been dreaming of another Haskell score, as after all, the possibilities of more money making were almost endless. Then on 75 minutes Stephen Jones decided to make the punter's dream a reality as his pass was intercepted. England raced away like excited puppies let off their lead for the first time. Armitage found Flood, who found Tait, who took Williams for a ride. The offload could've found any of the three England players who were lining up to score, but it was the scrum capped one who got it and dived over the line to complete his brace and land a certain someone £3,270 worth of excitement!

The anticipation to Super Bowl something in Roman numerals was one of the most exciting ever. So was a buy of Match Performance at 278 the best bet? One of our flock thought so and staked £50 a point on it. No fixed odds bet is as creative as Match Performance (we give you 20 points for a TD, 5 for a FG, 15 for a Turnover, 10 for a sack and 3 for a penalty). The potential fairytales were numerous. Could the most dangerous quick-fire team around - with most of America behind them - upset the odds and deny a QB his taste of all-time greatness in an all-action, high scoring bonanza? The answer, sadly, was no. Indy took control in the first quarter with a field goal and a touchdown only for The Saints to come back with 13 unanswered points. The game was developing into one for the purists (i.e. sellers). And after the CSI medley, Coach Sean Payton wrestled control of the game with an audacious on-side kick from which Saints got possession back AND scored from. Indy piled on the pressure but, despite a couple of scores, things just weren't happening for the client. The loss was guaranteed but how much he lost could've been very different if Manning had found someone when in the red zone with seconds left. If Indy had scored, we would've seen one of those on-side kicks, but these were just dreams. Match Performance made-up 169, a £5,450 loss.

Football Who actually wants to win this league? Just as Chelsea state their title intentions once again at Stamford Bridge, they go and lose again mid-week. Carlo's boys were available to buy at 52 after Sunday, they're now 47-50 on our Premier League Championship Index.
Rugby Union England, despite not looking fantastic on Saturday against Wales, have seen quite a lot of interest in their Six Nations Outright Index. After the win and a flurry of buys, Martin Johnson's men are up three points to 29-32.
Super League Harlequins were well and truly mauled by the Warrington Wolves on Sunday as they conceded 11 Tries on their way to a hefty 58-0 defeat. The hapless Quins have notched up two defeats from two this new season and Brian McDermott's side are up two points on our Super League Bottom Three Index to 9-12.
