Hola! I'm back from a week earning serious brownie points with Mrs. Mole, and hopefully I've accumulated enough to see me through to at least the Quarter Final stage. However mammals can be fickle creatures. I also had a fight on my paws to reclaim copy writing duties after The Shrew's fine effort last week. Some might call this 'the taming of the shrew' (couldn't resist).

Anyway, I overheard some of the traders calling this weekend one of the most varied and exciting of the year. Particularly with a view to seeing how Tiger will get on in his first tournament since his op. Woods is the biggest price he has been for a major for some time but if you've got an opinion on the great man you might want to check out our industry leading golf service here.

Yours in sport

Stop press. Holland and Spain might finally be living up to their infinite potential. The Iberians started their assault on the tournament on Tuesday by doing what America wanted to do many years ago and blew Russia out of the water. One punter thought he would get with Spain's other, often forgotten, world class striker David Villa, buying his GMs at 20 for £100. After a lively start from Russia, they found themselves behind in the 20th minute after Spain swept upfield and Villa opened his account. Game on for the client who now couldn't lose any money. On the stroke of half time Iniesta's ball through to Villa was so good that it would have been rude of the Valencia striker to miss. Our man, now 45 points to the good, must have been drooling with excitement for the second half. He would have cursed at an Anyukov clearance which denied his man a hat trick, but would have exploded with joy when on 75 Villa completed a fine hat-trick which netted him the match ball and the punter £12,000.

Rafael Nadal says he still feels closer to the third best player in the world than the first but judging by Sunday's astounding victory over Rodger Federer in the second Grand Slam event of the season he is much closer than he thinks. One client will feel particularly sore after buying the Total Match Points at 251 for £150. It is safe to say that Nadal is the king of the clay at the present moment. The Spaniard has never lost at Roland Garros going into the final and from the start there was never any danger of that record being blemished. Incredibly the superb Nadal broke Federer at the start of each of the three sets to wrap up victory and an embarrassing 6-1, 6-3, 6-0 scoreline in just an hour and 48 minutes, with only 144 points played. Afterwards the world number one said that he is still the best around on grass but surely Wimbledon can't come soon enough for Nadal who has never had a better chance to overtake the Swiss. Although I doubt our man will be as keen to have a bet on the next match between the two after shelling out £16,050.

Euro 2008 Some thought that cards would be flying round like confetti this summer, but at the time of writing just a single red has been shown and only 3.5 yellows a game on average are being brandished. As the pressure rises will the 'men in black' be reaching for their pockets more regularly? Our Total Yellow Cards quote is down 19 to 122-126 and Total Reds are down 2.25 to 5.25-6 since the tournament began.

US Open Go Eldrick! Tiger is back in action for the first time since his knee op and what a time to return. Some reckon he's going to be a bit rusty in California. His Finishing Position quote is up one to 15-18.

Angel Cabrera (2007) and Geoff Ogilvy (2006) both won the US Open with five-over-par 285s, but punters are expecting life to be a little easier for the players at Torrey Pines this week. Our Winning Score market (which will be traded in-play throughout) is down 0.5 to 283-284. Our Players Under Par quote is also up 1.5 to 4-5.5.

Big Brother You know how much we love it here. Kathreya, the 'hilarious' massage therapist from Kent, has received plenty of support since BB9 burst into life last week. But how will she fare without her beloved cookies? She's up seven to 19-22 on our Big Brother Outright Index since the show began.

Mildly interesting / useless sporting fact

In May 2001, when Rafael Nadal was 14 years old, tennis legend Pat Cash played a clay-court exhibition match against him. Cash, who was originally scheduled to play Boris Becker, was reluctant to play against Nadal, taking offence to this last minute change of opponent. Cash lost the match by a close margin.
