This week we're having a summer sale:

We want you to send in your own tales of spread betting delight and / or distress. Have you hacked up at Headingley or done your bananas at Brighton? Send in your yarns to themole@sportingindex.com and we'll credit your account with £100 cash if it makes it into next week's edition.

Yours in sport

Has Monty's form come good just in time for Carnoustie or will he leave us devoid of Open glory for yet another year? One client, after seeing the Scot mount a serious push the week before in Paris, bought him on our Leaderboard Index at 7 for £100 at the European Open (Win: 60 points, 2nd: 40, 3rd: 25 and so on). Monty put himself within one shot of the lead with a 64 in round two but after a 71 in the third his challenge looked to be over. Then the seven times European no.1 shot a stunning round of five under on Sunday to end his 19 month wait for his 31st European Tour win and land the jubilant client the maximum 60 point make-up equalling a £5,300 profit. Well done Monty! Now for Carnoustie - your Open destiny awaits...

So Wimbledon is over for another year. Time for the tennis courts to empty and the racket to go back in the loft for another year then? One punter will have some very fond memories of the rain soaked tournament after buying Total Match Points in the Men's Final at 245 for £10. The world's two best players served up a five set thriller in one of the greatest finals that the grand old tournament has seen in modern times. Nadal battled so bravely, matching Federer set for set (much to the client's joy) until he could no longer fend away the class of the Swiss maestro. The match finished with an unexpected total of 323 points, giving the punter a £780 win that he won't forget in a hurry.

A real shocker in the Copa America... plenty of goals (unfortunately for us), but what's happened to the corners? One client bought corners in the quarter-final match between Argentina and Peru on Monday at 10.75 for £500. Now to be honest the corners market in football is one of our least volatile markets which frequently ends up close to the original price. But in this game, which saw Argentina blow away the boys in the Red Stripe kit 4-0, there was a grand total of TWO! This is one of the lowest totals we've had on the market and must have left the client somewhat bewildered... and nursing a £4,375 loss.

Australia are looking like the only team capable of challenging the All Blacks for the World Cup. Fresh from mugging New Zealand last week they took on South Africa in Sydney. One punter bought the time of the first South Africa try at 46 for £15 believing that Aussies would hold firm in what was George Gregan and Stephen Larkham's last international on home soil. Unfortunately the client's interest was ended when the curiously named Winkus van Heerden went over in the sixth minute to completely scupper the punter's view of a steely Aussie defence, losing him the grand sum of £600. What a Winkus!

Golf Carnoustie is counting down the hours until Ivor Robson announces the first group on to the tee but punters have wasted no time in showing their hand. Colin Montgomerie's opening price on our Leaderboard Index has quickly shifted 2 points to 7-9 after punters feverishly got with the Scot when our market went live.

Premiership Sven is back and Man City are hoping that the Swedish mastermind will work his magic (can he possibly do any worse than previous managers?). City's season points are up a half a point to 44-45.5. The Eastlands outfit are also down a point to 7-10 on our Relegation Index.

Big Brother 8 You're having a bubble mush? No, we're deadly serious, Brian is the new favourite to win this year's Big Brother. The Essex wideboy is up 7 points to 23-30 on our Outright Index.
