Readers of last week's Trading Talk would have seen the stat that the average goals per match for games on the last day of the Premiership season is significantly higher than the league average. One of these readers may have been this client who bought the Total Goal Minutes at 140 for £20 in the Middlesbrough v Man City match last Sunday. Not much could have prepared fans of both sides for the outcome of this particular season finale. A beleaguered City side started to fall apart as early as the 15th minute when Richard Dunne was sent off and Downing dispatched the penalty. Alfonso Alves added a second on 37 to end what was a comparatively quiet first half. But what followed in the next 45 could only be described as a Total Goal Minutes fest with Boro scoring six to City's one. To the despair of our traders these goals came late with four strikes in the last ten minutes! 8-1 the final score and a colossal 583 make up for our man whose account will be £8,860 better off after that trade.

Golf's fifth major came and went last week. The tournament, hosted at the course with the most difficult par three in the world, was won by a European for only the second time. Sergio Garcia had not won anything in his last 54 starts and had seemingly been using golf balls that were afraid of the dark. This obviously influenced one punter who sold the "Power Sergio" special on the Spaniard at 22 for £30 (200pts for win, 100 for top ten, 50 for top 20, 25 for top 30, -25 for miss cut). El Nino shot straight to the top of the leaderboard on day one after a majestic 66. And he would have been grateful for that round which gave him a two shot lead, as back to back one over par rounds of 73 followed to give our client some hope of an all too familiar Garcia collapse. In the final round Sergio was four behind but he closed on the leader Goydos, while all others were blown away by the stiff gales, to join him in a playoff. One simple 9-iron to the 17th in sudden death ensured that the Spaniard experienced the taste of victory again for the first time since 2005 while our man experienced the slightly more bitter taste of a £5,340 loss.

FA Cup Final One market that always proves popular on those special occasions is Player Card Minutes. Pompey's Lyon loanee, Milan Baros, was carded after 35 minutes in the Wembley semi against West Brom and his Card Minutes quote is up two to 7-10.
Guinness Premiership Playoffs Leicester scraped into the playoffs by the skin of their teeth last weekend and now face a tough trip to Kingsholm on Sunday. The Tigers are down half a point to 5-6.5 on our Guinness Premiership Playoff Index.
Formula One Lewis Hamilton may have disappointed in Malaysia and Bahrain but he has mounted the podium in his previous two GP starts. The talented young Brit is up two to 30-33 on our F1 Drivers Championship Index.
Mildly interesting / useless sporting fact of the week Sergio Garcia previously dated the daughter of golfing legend Greg Norman. The split must have been pretty amicable though as both El Nino and The Shark are designing a new golf course in San Antonio.
