If your enjoyment of the Six Nations Championship is totally dependent on how your country fared, then it was a non-event for the English, Irish and French, had its moments for the Scots and Italians, but was truly sensational for the Welsh. On Saturday, champions-elect Wales took on France, who needed a 20 point win to steal the title, at a white hot Millennium Stadium. One lucky punter had every faith in Warren Gatland's side and chose to buy the time of the first French try at 42 for £100. A bold move considering France had not lost a championship game in Cardiff for 12 years, but it turned out to be the right one. The French were nothing short of merde as they struggled to maintain any sort of grip on the match as a phenomenal Martyn Williams (amongst others) kept them away from the try line. Wales' 29-12 win completed a transformation from World Cup flops to secure their second Grand Slam in four years and send the Mumbles mad! The French blank pocketing our man £3,800 in the process.

At 3.30pm on a damp Friday afternoon in Gloucestershire, all the build-up and all the hype was finally over as the runners and riders, in what was the most anticipated horse race for nearly 50 years, approached the tape. Not since the days of Arkle and Mill House has so much has been made of two horses going head to head, with no chance given to the other ten horses. One client bought our 'Kauto is a Star' performance market at 145 for £20 (100 points for winning the race and 25 points per length he won by). One of the other horses in the race, Neptune Collonges, led after the first circuit but it was the defending champion's challenger, Denman that led the real race. 'The Tank's' tactic of taking the lead and drawing the sting out of Kauto was apparent in the second lap, forcing Kauto to lose fluency over the fences and make a big error four out. Half the crowd and the bookies roared as the relentless gallop of Denman ate up the ground to the line, comfortably beating Clive Smith’s horse into second by a massive seven lengths. This turn-up ensured that the special made-up nought and our man was left nursing a £2,900 loss.

Formula One What a cool, calm, collected individual Lewis Hamilton is! The Stevenage speedster put the final race of the 2007 season to the back of his mind as he roared to victory from the front of the grid in Oz last weekend. Although he's only up 3 points to 45-48 on our F1 Drivers Championship Index.

Premier League It seems that Arsenal have become the Premier League's draw specialists. The 1-1 with Boro was their fourth league stalemate on the spin and they are down 2pts to 37-40 on our Premier League Championship Index.

Super League It was a tough week on and off the field for St Helens. Not only did they receive terrible news from the treatment room (Keiron Cunningham laid off for a lengthy spell) they also were sent packing by Catalans on French soil. Daniel Anderson's men are down three to 33-36 on our Super League Outright Index.

Golf We all know Tiger Woods is a living legend, but even he has surpassed himself recently in stringing together seven successive victories. The US Masters is now just three weeks away and the US superstar is up two to 116-120 on our 2008 Major Performance market.
