I was at Villa Park on Wednesday to watch what, in my opinion, was the most ridiculous game of football I've ever seen live. As a Villa fan my glass is always half empty. I enjoy the mid-table mediocrity and think there's too much hassle involved in climbing the table. One punter who thought the game wasn't so ridiculous was one who bought Total Goals at 2.85 for £1,000! Personally I was of the opinion that it would be quite a tight game as Villa have the tendency to sit back and counter while Blackburn are just rubbish. How wrong I was as after just 26 minutes Blackburn were two up and flying. Villa Park fell silent and I swear I could hear the client's shouts of joy as he realised this might not be any ordinary game. He was right. After Warnock got one back for Villa the game descended into an under 12s park football match. Villa scored four without reply as Blackburn fell apart and started crying to their parents. Those parents (i.e. Big Sam and co.) then gave their kids a rollicking and Rovers got two back (number of goals in the game now nine!). Finally, in true park football fashion, the fast kid who still wants to run loads at the end (Ashley Young) ran down the pitch when everyone had given up, slotted home and celebrated like it was the most important goal he'd ever scored. 6-4, ten goals and a £7,150 profit.
See you at Wembley!

The African Nations has already proved to be a great and valuable late afternoon punting opportunity with plenty of goals and plenty of profit to be had for the buyers of goals. Although there are those who don't like it when the net is rippled (our Client Services Director is allergic to goals - he's always selling them), I hope they weren't tempted to buy time of the first and SECOND goal in Mali's win against Malawi on Monday. One unlucky fella bought the first at 37 for £50 and the second at 63 for the same stake. Barely seconds were on the clock when the Malawi keeper thought for a moment he was Pele and inexplicably chipped the ball to Freddie Kanoute, who couldn't believe his luck. Just two minutes later Mali (who were being made to look like Brazil) got a free kick and Barcelona's Seydou Keita struck a shot which would've collapsed a small building let alone a wall and put Mali two up leaving our unlucky punter to switch hastily over to Deal or No Deal. Even finding 1p in your box would've been better for this client after his £4,800 blow to the hip.

Football No price within an Index has moved more violently than Liverpool's this season. Pre-season Liverpool were fancied to make a serious challenge for the title when priced at 33-36 on our Premier League Championship Index. However their woeful season has seen that price fall to 10-12. But following victory over Spurs in midweek can they bounce back?
I'll declare an interest and say that it gives me no pleasure to see Man City doing well this season (after selling their points). Interestingly City are one of the few teams with a price that hasn't changed after 21 games into the season. Despite inconsistent performances and two managers, City are still the same price on the Championship Index as they were pre-season. So will 13-16 tempt you into action?
Heineken Cup "The Saints Are Coming" was a fairly average cover collaboration between Green Day and U2 back in 2006 but it could now be used to describe Northampton's push for European glory. Jim Mallinder's boys face their sternest test yet away at Munster on Friday and victory will send their current price of 8-11 on the Outright Index soaring. Should you get in while it's hot?
Sporting video fun
We've had this guy before, he's on the Italian version of Soccer Saturday and he's just brilliant. Bet some out there have wanted to celebrate a goal against United like that before. Can you imagine AP and Ruby doing this at Ascot this weekend?
