In a week where four times August's usual rainfall has fallen on these isles, what better idea than to have a Bank Holiday! The British weather has really got this Mole's claws up. Whoever is in charge of classifying the seasons better take a good look at themselves. No cricket, no Ebor, thank God it's the weekend. Although I won't be around this weekend as Mrs Mole has organised a visit to the in-laws. Where, you ask? YORK! (I've packed my speedos).

This mammal has long championed the talent that is Anderson Luís de Souza and it was no surprise that the midfielder had a storming debut on Sunday. Anderson who you ask? I'm talking about the diminutive Portuguese playmaker Deco and his superb debut for Chelsea as they blew away Portsmouth at The Bridge on Sunday. One punter got on board the money train with a buy of Deco's Player Performance at 75 for £30 and straight away he knew he was on that short journey to Cashville, Tennessee (goal: 25pts, assist: 10pts, shot on target: 5pts, forcing a corner: 3pts, free-kick won: 3pts, pass to own player in oppo half: 2pts, free-kick conceded: -3pts, yellow: -10pts, red: -25pts). The ex-Barca star shone from the off and set up Anelka in the 26th minute for Chelsea's second. Deco had an outstanding first half and an even better last minute when he cracked a swerving 30-yarder past the braids of James, ensuring an impressive 150 performance make-up. The Blues have a new hero and our man has £2,250.

Fabio Capello may well spend more time in the Birmingham suburb of Aston than in bed with his wife this season if Martin O'Neill's young (mostly) English lions have anything to do with it. Aston Villa got their Premier League campaign off to a thrilling start against Man City on Sunday, but that won't please the client who sold the game's Total Goal Minutes at 94 for £10. Although having come in at half-time when the score was 0-0, our man would not have expected what was to come in the second half as Villa turned on the style. John Carew headed in at the near post before City equalised through a dodgy Elano penalty. Then it was the turn of the England boys to send our man heading for Piecesville, Arizona as Gareth 'you’ll never walk alone' Barry and Ashley Young combined to provide Gabby Agbonlahor with a hat-trick in just seven minutes. Five second half strikes meant the last thing our man needed was a Corluka City consolation in the 89th to condemn him to a £3,250 loss.

Premier League Big Phil Scolari will take time to settle into Premier League management. You must be joking! Chelsea found a route to goal after just 12 minutes against Portsmouth as they strolled to a 4-0 victory. The Blues are up two to 43-45 on our Premier League Championship Index.

Stoke need to get out of the blocks fast if they are to survive in the Premier League, but it never happened at the Reebok last Saturday (they were 3-0 down by half-time). Can the Potters get their act together before it’s too late? They are up two to 40-43 on our Premier League Relegation Index.

Big Brother Unlike Samson, Mikey's decision to lose his locks hasn't lessened his powers in the BB house. In fact he is still favourite to pocket the prize money. The blind radio producer from Kilwinning in Scotland is up two to 25-28 on our Big Brother Index.

Mildly interesting / useless sporting fact

England manager Fabio "we will quality" Capello is a self-confessed fine art enthusiast. Over the years he has acquired a number of works and his art collection is estimated to be worth as much as Aston Villa are demanding off Liverpool for Gareth Barry.
