A bet with real WOW factor in the Man United v AC Milan semi on Wednesday as one client bought Wayne 'prolific Champions League goalscorer' Rooney's Goal Minutes for £500 at 16. Rooney stole the show as the reds grabbed a dramatic and incredibly important first-leg victory over the Italians. Coleen's less attractive other half scored two simply wonderful goals in the 59th and 90th minutes to bring the house down at Old Trafford and send the client into utter delirium at his £66,500 win. By the way, the client also bought Kaka’s GMs, Last Match Goal and the game's Total Goal Minutes – what a Tuesday night that must have been!
If there ever was a game that you were going to put your house / caravan / boat on there being a draw, especially a 0-0 one, then Aston Villa v Portsmouth was the game for you! Described by Sky Sports' Richard Keys before the game as "a good chance to look at other teams away from the top and bottom ends of the table" there was always going to be little chance of a corner, let alone a goal! One client went all in on our Correct Score 0-0 Draw market and bought £20 at 15 (25 points if 0-0 at half-time, 50 points if 0-0 at full-time). David James did his best to liven up the game with a few saves for the cameras but the stalemate was never in doubt. The only person left feeling entertained was the canny client who was left to enjoy a nice £1,200 profit from the 75 point make-up.

The first round Crucible match between snooker legends John Parrot and Steve Davies was always going to create some interest, especially from dear Hazel who wondered which pundit would be joining her in the studio first. One client thought the game was going to be a low scoring affair and sold the 50-ups market at 155 for £3 (a prediction of the total points scored above 50 breaks by both players). Contrary to the punter's view, both players contributed to a cracking game full of quality snooker, including one monster 126 break from Parrot, who triumphed 10-9. This was not good news for the client as the market made up a massive 357 to leave him with a £606 loss and Hazel to enjoy the company of 'The Nugget' - what a lucky man!
Mr. B from Buckinghamshire told us about his dilemma last Saturday…."Having bought total bookings for £5 at 54 in the Spurs v Arsenal game, I managed to convince my girlfriend to spend the morning of her 21st birthday watching the match. After four bookings in the first five minutes, I was going mental and with the market now trading at 85, I promised her some birthday treats with the winnings. With greed getting the better of me, and convinced Lehmann had one of his "finger pointing moments" in him (and thus a second yellow card), I stood fast and held my position. Unbelievably, there were no more bookings for the rest of the game and the market made up 40. This left me not just with a £70 loss, but expensive birthday treats to pay for!"

Cricket World Cup Those expecting a mouth-watering semi-final encounter in St. Lucia were left wiping liquid from their eyes instead. Australia strolled to victory after knocking over the Boks for 149. Because of this Total Tournament Runs are down 175 to 21,330-21,350.
Champions League The Sky Sports production crew had no need for flash lamps during the post-match interviews at the Bridge on Wednesday, Jose Mourinho's smug smile lit up the players tunnel and then some. Chelsea are up 5.5 points to 76.5-79 on our Champions League Outright Index and are up 3 points to 5-8 in their Champions League Qualifying Match Bet (10 points for qualifying for the final, +3 points per goal won by) with Liverpool.
Premiership Most would have forgiven the usually calm and collected Arsene Wenger from throwing a little tantrum after the Gunners leaked a late equaliser at White Hart Lane last week. Arsenal are down 1 point to 20-22 on our Premiership Championship Index.
Wigan can't seem to free themselves from the relegation mire (they are only two points above the bottom three prior to this weekend's fixtures). The Latics are up 3 points to 13-16 on our Premiership Relegation Index.
Super League "Leeds, Leeds, Leeds" reverberated around Headingley after the Rhinos' emphatic victory against St. Helens last weekend. Tony Smith's boys are up 5 points to 70-73 on our Super League Outright Index.
Guinness Premiership Northampton are hoping that they don't suffer domestic as well as European heartache within the space of a week. The Saints have been the subject of a little nibble and are down 1 point to 38-40 on our Guinness Premiership Bottom 3 Index.
European Football It's getting tight at the top of the Primera Liga, just three points separate the top three clubs. Real Madrid are the major movers following their 2-1 win over Valencia and Barca's shock defeat against Villarreal. Capello's comrades are up 6 points to 35-38 on our Primera Liga Championship Index. |
