No Mole next week as its Good Friday. So you will have to console yourself with a double helping of football fixtures, top-class racing, the boat race and of course the first major of the year at Augusta live on the BBC - just tell the loved one that they will enjoy looking at the pretty flowers around the greens.

Yours in sport

"And Aaron Hughes lifts the European Championship for Northern Ireland"....well maybe not just yet, but who would have foreseen the two great results that Lawrie Sanchez's men pulled off this week? One client (clearly not a Leeds fan) bought Healy's Goal Minutes against Liechtenstein on Saturday at 28 for £10. The striker helped himself to a killer second half hat-trick, scoring in the 52nd, 75th and 83rd minutes to give N.I. a convincing 4-1 win away in Vaduz and the client a lovely profit of £1,820. He also got involved in Healy's Goal Minutes again against Sweden as the striker scored a brace and the clients scooped another £740 - top work!

Whichever way you look at it, cricket is a batsman's game and there seems to be no batsman currently more eruptive than Matthew Hayden at this moment. One punter must have been incredibly chuffed with himself as he bought the Aussie's runs against the West Indies at 45 for £20. Surprisingly Haydos did not score a run in his first 17 deliveries but once he got his eye in the big fella' bludgeoned his way to 158 runs. This knock ensured that the punter, Hayden's new number one fan, scooped a £2,260 profit.

The Mole has been accused of xenophobia by some collegues eminating from north of the border after certain Scottish comments in these columns. Well this is simply not true and The Mole would like to praise the Jocks' effort against the mighty Georgia on Saturday. One client was not so cheerful (obviously a xenophobe!) as he sold the Scottish Win Index at 17.5 for £75 (25 points win, 10 points draw, 0 points loss). The game that saw Alec 'vas brows' McLeish take charge of the team for the first time was settled by a dramatic last-gasp winner by Craig Beattie. The client was sitting on a 7.5 times his stake profit of £562.50 until the Celtic striker scored which meant the punter went on to lose the same amount as he was just about to win.

The great thing about sport is that it has the power to make you forget (temporarily) about the bad things in life and the Super Eight stage of the Cricket World Cup is certainly doing its best. One client was the subject of a cruel swing after buying South Africa's supremacy at 10 for £40 versus Sri Lanka. The punter must have been very happy with his position as Charl Langeveldt and co. bowled Sri Lanka out for a cheap 209. This meant that for every wicket that the South Africans won by, the client would make £400. South Africa were cruising at 200/5 (a £2,000 profit) until Malinga 'The Slinga' took a remarkable four wickets in four balls! The punter must have been seriously shell-shocked by this late fight back and felt that coming out even for the bet must have seemed like a £2,000 loss!

Cricket World Cup Hands up those who thought the Aussies were on the slide after their CB Series and Chappell-Hadlee Trophy defeats? The willow wizards of Oz have bounced back emphatically, winning their four World Cup openers in style. Australia's Total Tournament Runs are up 100 points to 2,850-2,950 following a stress-free victory over the Windies.

Golf Majors Spring has sprung and the azaleas are out at the Augusta National course as the countdown to the start of the first Major of the year is well and truly on. It is probably no surprise to see that the punters are coming for Tiger: the American superstar is up 4 points to 104-108 on our Golf Major Performance Index - watch out Tiger's about!

Coca-Cola League Football Nottm Forest may have trounced Cheltenham, but only half smiles were playing on the lips of the Tricky Trees after their fellow promotion rivals Scunthorpe and Bristol City both got out of jail with late efforts. Nevertheless, Forest are up 2 points to 32-35 on our League One Championship Index.

The Robins of Swindon were bob bob bobbing after their thrilling 3-2 win over Lincoln moved them within a point of an automatic promotion spot. Paul Sturrock's men are up 4 points to 25-28 on our League Two Championship Index.

Guinness Premiership Northampton's domestic problems continue to grow, so this weekend's Heineken Cup clash against Biarritz will be a welcome distraction. The Saints are up 5 points to 38-40 on our Guinness Premiership Bottom 3 Index following their defeat against Bristol.

Super League Bye Eck! It's been a tortuous week for Bradford. They were left red-faced by the Catalan Dragons on Sunday and then received the shattering news that Shontayne Hape could be out for the remainder of the season. The Bulls are down 11 points to 53-57 on our Super League Outright Index.
